Specialist Installation for Home And Business
At Kirkdec Painting & Decorating, we’ve spent years hanging everything from lining papers to high-end designer wallpaper that requires a real eye for detail. Whether it’s a bold, funky pattern or a delicate silk, we’ve handled it all. We know that when you invest in quality paper, you want it hung perfectly, and that’s exactly what we do.

Great results start with the preparation!
We always advise our clients that the finish is only as good as the wall underneath. Even though the wallpaper covers the surface, it won't hide bumps or cracks. That’s why we take wall preparation seriously; it’s the most important step in the process and often the one that gets overlooked. Check out our gallery to learn more about the projects.

The Wallpaper Revival
Wallpaper is well and truly back. More people are moving away from plain painted walls in favour of bold wallpapered feature walls and vibrant textures. Today’s choices are massive—from modern prints to timeless, elegant designer designs.
As a professional decorating firm serving Lanarkshire and Glasgow, we handle the full range of complex coverings, including:
-
Wide-Width Commercial Vinyl: Durable and perfect for high-traffic or office spaces.
-
Custom Digital Murals: Precise installation for large-scale, statement wall art.
-
Grasscloth, Hessian, and Silk: Expert handling of delicate, natural fibers.
-
Designer Wallcoverings: Experienced with premium brands and intricate patterns.
-
Woven & Non-Woven: Mastering both traditional "paste-the-paper" and modern "paste-the-wall" techniques.

Bringing Character to Your Space
Wallpaper adds a level of elegance and character that paint just can’t replicate. Whether you’re looking for a classic retro feel or a contemporary luxury look, our team has the experience to bring your vision to life.
The hardest part is often choosing the right design! If you’re feeling stuck, feel free to ask questions about our recommended suppliers. We’re happy to help you find a look and feel that fits your home or business.
What to Consider Before We Begin
To ensure the best possible finish for your home or business, there are a few important steps to take before the first roll is even opened.
Wall Preparation
Contrary to popular belief, wallpaper won't hide surface defects—in fact, it often highlights them. For a flawless look, walls must be fully prepared.
-
Problem Walls: Older walls that are porous, stained, or uneven may need to be primed, sealed, or cross-lined with lining paper.
-
Plastering: If your walls aren't flat, we can arrange for a skim coat of plaster to be applied beforehand to create a perfectly smooth canvas.
The Hanging Process
Every wallpaper is different. We strictly follow manufacturer instructions regarding adhesive, pattern repeat, and soaking times.

-
Drying Time: Once the paper is hung, it needs to dry naturally. Please keep windows closed and radiators off during this time.
-
Hands-Off: To avoid damage or marking, please ensure children and pets are kept away from the area until the paper is completely dry.
Ordering And Batches
It is vital to order enough paper from the start. Always check that every roll has the same batch number, as slight colour variations between batches can be very noticeable once on the wall.
-
Inspection: We recommend checking the ends of the rolls for damage or defects before opening them.
-
The "Spare Roll" Rule: We strongly suggest ordering at least one extra roll. This ensures you have a perfect match from the same batch for any future repairs or accidents.
Delivery Times
If you are ordering custom designs or high-end papers, please keep delivery timescales in mind. Some specialist suppliers can take up to six weeks to deliver. We recommend having your paper on-site before we schedule your start date to ensure everything is ready to go.
Had the whole house decorated by Kirkdec. All their tradesman did an excellent job. The workmanship was first class and very obliging clean and tidy. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them.
